Genre-transcending powerhouse MJ Songstress is, in her own words, “Unapologetic. I’m a woman, a friend, a lover, and a powerhouse. I’m a yes to someone’s no. I’m my parents’ daughter who they raised to be a fighter and to never give up! I sing to the world and I will always circle back to my heart. My heartbeat is the cadence of my life.”
MJ Songstress released her debut seven-track EP, “See Me” in 2018, which was followed in 2019 with singles “Dame La Noche” (now a streaming hit) and 2milly’s “Sturdy Rock”. In 2020 she released the English version of Dame La Noche, “Give Me Tonight” and her first holiday season single, “Fa La La La La”. In January 2021 she released her latest single, “Carousel”, produced by her longtime partner and producer Tyrice “TyJamz” Jones.
MJ Songstress was born in Bayside, Queens (New York) to a multi-instrumentalist father from Mexico City, Horacio Jiménez, and a vocalist mother from Agrinion, Greece, Maria Jiménez. “I’ve been granted a multitude of blessings from both sides of my family,” said MJ. “I’ve embraced my parents’ hardworking, go-getter spirit. My motto is, ‘keep going, no matter what.’ I look to embrace difficulties and continue to power through. I don’t give up.” MJ Songstress, singer, songwriter, musician, dancer, creative and entertainer has toured the world performing with legends such as Nile Rodgers and Chic, Wyclef Jean, Beanie Sigel, and The Kumbia All-Starz. In 2014 she finished Top 5 on Team Usher, Top 20 in NBC’s The Voice. Following her strong finish, she was invited to compete in The Voice Mexico, where she was a finalist on Team Alejandro Sanz. She launched her solo career in 2018 when she was signed to VME by CEO JoJo Brim.
